The IJsselhoeve is more than a campsite. We live, work and share what has been given to us here. To make this place more widely available to people who need calm, space or an encounter, the Stichting Vrienden van de IJsselhoeve (Friends of the IJsselhoeve Foundation) was set up in 2022.
What we do here
We get to live and work here, to enjoy it and share it. Everything the farm holds, in material and in possibility, has been given to us and entrusted to our care. As residents and people who feel involved with the IJsselhoeve, we want to share this place and use it to connect people. The grounds, the buildings and the nature around us are tools for fostering that connection.
From that desire, we welcome hundreds of campers each season, run a living community for young adults, give the worship initiative Volhart a home, and host a monthly men’s campfire evening.
But the grounds offer more. As a foundation we therefore aim to let more people benefit from the calm and space here, and seek connections on a social and civic level. An independent board stands behind this.
Objectives
The foundation aims to:
- Organise activities that bring people from different backgrounds together, to ease isolation and foster social connection.
- Create work places where people at a distance from the labour market can gain work experience.
- Let people get to know what the natural surroundings have to offer, in an educational way.
- Offer a time-out place where people in need can find shelter for a while.
- Gather donations of money, goods or time to make the above possible.
To this end, the foundation mobilises volunteers and paid staff, finds sponsors and donors, and organises activities that provide a sound financial basis. The foundation is non-profit.
